They picked us up from our hotel in Ubud, stopped for a quick photo opp at the Tegallalang Rice Terrace, then brought us to a local market where our guide and instructor Made told us all about the Balinese fruit, vegetables, herbs, and spices we’d be using to cook later in the day. It was a great start to the day!
Once we arrived at the cooking school we took a tour of their organic farm while we picked several vegetables and herbs that we used in our dishes. Talk about farm to table fresh food!
We ended up making seven different things including five dishes, a spice paste, and a dessert. As much as we loved the food in Bali, we both agree that this was some of the best we had…and we made it ourselves! (Although Made definitely helped guide us a lot, haha!)
It truly was one of the highlights of our time on the island and we are excited to try some of these meals and techniques when we get back to the US!
