I spent my 31st week of pregnancy in Texas, Louisiana, and finished at our home in Long Beach, California. After 110 days of traveling while pregnant, I will finally continue the rest of my pregnancy in Long Beach. Right now the baby is the size of a coconut—about 16 inches long and weighs about 3 1/3 pounds. According to babycenter.com, she is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump up as needed to accumulate fat underneath the skin.
31 Weeks Pregnant
My 31st week was pretty exhausting and exciting in so many ways. I think I am finally hitting the point of getting pregnancy symptoms. The start of my week we drove for five hours from Louisiana to Texas to see Fat’s stepsister, niece, nephew, and cousins. It was really fun seeing them and the long drive there and back was not bad. I just had to stop to pee a lot! At this point of my pregnancy I have increased the frequency of my bathroom breaks, which is not fun. I have even doubled my pee breaks during my sleep! I guess it’s preparing me for feeding the baby in the middle of the night or changing her, haha.
What was fun in Texas was hanging out with Fat’s 12-month-old niece. It gave us a whole new outlook on being parents and made us really excited. I think being around a little one and seeing the little things that make her smile and her curiosity was priceless. I am looking forward to seeing our girl’s personality and being part of her journey.
While we were in Texas we even got to workout at his cousin’s CrossFit Gym, CrossFit New Caney. It was so nice to be around his family and to workout. This week I only worked out that one time, but again, it’s better than nothing. I even jumped roped, which felt great. Since I am back home now I decided to continue the rest of my pregnancy doing spin, Pilates, and barre classes. I am excited to get in the routine and tone my body back up.
The last couple days of my 31st week of pregnancy was back home in sunny California. It has been really busy, getting the house back together, getting our dog, catching up with friends, and the best part…going to a doctor appointment and seeing our little girl in 3D. (Little did we know that you can get a 3D sonogram at a shopping mall.) So after our doctor appointment, we went there. It was really awesome to see what she looks like, but in the beginning it took us a while to realize that it is actually our girl. She was so cute and has my lips and has tons of hair. We also found out she sleeps like us! She always had her hand by her face, so the nurse asked us who sleeps with their hands by their face, and we both said we do. So it was cool to know she is already acting like us. Also at the 3D sonogram I found out she likes to be low—meaning her head is by my right hip. So that makes sense why I had pressure on my piriformis on my right side. Currently it feels better ever since I did the sensory deprivation tank at Levitate Float Center in Hammond, LA. I recommend trying the float tank—pregnant or not!
Another thing we found out at the doctors is what the bulge is that I keep feeling on the side of my belly bump! In last week’s Prego Log I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if it was her foot, hand, or head, but we found out it’s her dupa (butt)! So I guess she has my hard butt too, haha. It’s pretty funny to know that the hard surface I keep feeling is her dupa.
Also, my doctor told me I have no stretch marks and said I did a great job taking care of myself during our travels. The only concern she has is that I gained a lot of weight—about 32 pounds, but since I just got back to our home two days before the appointment and have been eating a lot of foods with sodium, she thinks it maybe just retaining a lot of water.
This week I have been feeling great with my energy and mood, but there is one thing that has been bothering me a lot… As I mentioned in my last Prego Log, my hands have been falling asleep and tingly, which is due to my carpel tunnel. Since I am pregnant and retaining a lot of water it has been bothering me a lot during my sleep and waking me up more than my bathroom breaks. With all the traveling and eating foods with high sodium, it has not been helping. My fingers are swollen and I can’t take off my wedding and engagement ring. I wish I didn’t have to take it off, but at this point I know it’s extremely important to get it off. I have been trying to get it off, but haven’t had any luck yet, and unfortunately, I feel like it’s getting worse. I have even tried doing the dental floss trick, windex, ice bowl, elevation, etc. I am hoping that once I start eating clean foods again and reducing the sodium that the swelling will go down. Have you ever come across to this? Do you have any tips and tricks up your sleeve? Contact me!
My food this week has not been consistent at all—just my favorite breakfast and my apples for snacks. Due to driving and bouncing around to different cities and states. I guess what I have been eating pretty consistent was Chipotle, which I love. We even went to our favorite Indian restaurant in Long Beach called Natraj Cuisine of India for a triple date night with some friends. Also on our very first day back in Long Beach, on our Date Night we went to dinner at Open Sesame. It was our last dinner we had before we started our 3 1/2 months of traveling. The last dinner happened to be our wedding dinner, which they catered. So it was nice to eat that as our first dinner back. I am at the point that I am sick of going out to eat and think the foods are really high in sodium. I still have not gone to get my favorite vegan donuts at Doughnuttery or even my vegan cinnamon bun at Cinnaholics. I feel like I need to eat clean for a week or two to really enjoy eating one of them. I am overall excited just to get back on track of cooking our own meals and meal prepping.
Now you know why I feel exhausted—not because of the pregnancy, but because we have been running around seeing people and doing errands to catch up on life.
We have so much to look forward to!
