I just finished my 20 week mark and began my 21st week of pregnancy. We are halfway there! Right now we are headed to Chiang Rai, Thailand. It’s funny how we go to different cities when I start my new pregnancy week. Right now the baby is the size of banana—about 10 inches from head to heel. At 20 weeks the baby can be measured from head to heel because the legs are not as curled against her torso. She’s supposed to weigh about 10 1/2 ounces, but when we had our 20 week ultrasound the baby weighed about 11 1/2 ounces. The doctor said I may be 21 weeks, and at my 12 week ultrasound they said it measured a week ahead. So who knows? I may be a week ahead, but I will just go as original plan that I started my 21st week, haha. On babycenter.com it says our baby is swallowing these days, which is good practice for her digestive system.
During my 20th week we were in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and had a more relaxed week than the previous weeks. The first couple days I didn’t work out because I had a small stomach bug. We kept things easy and ate at the same place three times a day for three days in a row. Thanks for the safe and good food, Vegan Heaven! We were afraid to eat somewhere else after the Krabi food poisoning situation.
Once we felt better we worked out in front of Art in Paradise and did a couple/partner workout. Check the video below. The next day we worked out at this park that we found and they had some handmade equipment. It felt great to lift some weights, get my balance in, and do some deadlifts. (Also below.) Overall it felt great to move around. I notice I feel a lot better when I get a workout in—I guess I get into a workout withdrawal if I don’t, haha.
My meals in the beginning of the week were light due to the stomach bug, so I avoided Thai food and had some scramble tofu, toast with vegan butter, my usual smoothies, and fruit like jackfruit. Jackfruit is awesome with so many health benefits…it’s rich in fiber, great for digestion, vitamin A, iron, vitamin C, rich in B-complex group, potassium, and magnesium.
Once I felt better we went to a cooking class and learned how to make traditional Thai foods. OMG it was so good and way better when you make your own meals! Later this week we should be posting a video from our Cooking class, so if you haven’t subscribed to our YouTube channel I highly recommend it!
What I have noticed during my pregnancy is I don’t have bad cheat cravings at all. My cravings are more telling me what my body needs or is lacking. So if I feel like I am craving iron, vitamin A, or any other nutrients than I will make sure I eat it that day. If I had to choose a doughnut over a smoothie/shake, it’s a shake! Haha, normally it would not be that choice! If you know me, I love donuts, but in my wedding vows I did say I love my husband more than doughnuts! 🙂
Now you may be wondering if I am feeling her kick? The answer is YES! She is stretching, kicking, and moving sooo much! It’s so weird and random, but I have been noticing her pattern. When I lay down and try to relax, she likes to kick me and I basically laughed out loud because I think it’s funny. Her kicks are not too hardcore yet, but there were times it was BAM hardcore. I am a tad nervous that those BAM kicks will be more often, which I know it will, but right now it’s hard to get use to the feeling that my tummy doesn’t feel right.
I currently have no stretch marks, which I thought I did one day but realized it was just the creases from the bed sheets, haha. Hopefully I can keep it that way. I have been buttering myself up with Honest organic belly balm, so fingers crossed!
If you have been following my Prego Log for a while you may be wondering if I still have this extreme cough. Well, it’s still there, but not as extreme. I ended up going to the allergy doctor and he prescribed me some medicine and told me the rooms I was staying in were too dusty and dirty. The total cost of the doctor visit with two prescriptions filled was under $10. Pretty cheap for not using insurance! So hopefully next week I can say my cough is 100% gone. Again, fingers crossed!

Prenatal Workout Routine Sample
Stretched for 5-10 minutes
We did a partner/couple workout
– I did 3 push-ups, then 7 modified jump squats while my husband holds a straight arm dip untill I am done.
– Then he did 5 push-ups and 10 jump squats and I held to a dip plank untill he was done.
Stretched for 5-10 minutes
– 5 deadlifts
– 5 back lunge bicep curl and press (5 each leg)
– 5 dips
– 5 lateral tire skips
Vegan Prenatal Meals for Week 20
Morning: USANA brand prenatal vitamins, DHA, B12
Meal 1: 1/2 cup rolled oats and banana or muesli with rice milk and banana. Less fruit this time since our hotel doesn’t provide free breakfast.
Meal 2: Fruit or Toast (Having the stomach bug in the beginning was iffy.)
Meal 3: It changed a lot, but mostly we at at Vegan Heaven.
Meal 4: Fruit or smoothie.
Meal 5: Again it changed a lot, but mostly we at at Vegan Heaven, but later had the traditional Thai curry with tofu and rice, etc.
